Metal Wool is produced by the careful shaving of wire using precision tooling into a web of strands which resemble wool. By adjusting the shaving process, the size or thickness of the each of the strands can be modified. This allows for the categorization of steel wool products by thickness of fiber into groups called grades. American Metal Fibers Inc. makes wool out of 4 different types of metal in various grades.
