Predator Bacteria Filter

The aqueous fluids in industrial plants are prone to the development of bacteria feeding off organic contaminants in the fluid. This bacterial presence has both annoying and costly effects. Sulfur reducing bacteria produce hydrogen sulfide gas. In levels as low as 0.5 parts per million (PPM) this gas produces a distinct and foul odor and creates an extremely unpleasant work environment. In addition, the bacteria itself can represent a potential health hazard for employees who come into contact with it. These factors, as well as degraded fluid effectiveness, usually result in the frequent and costly disposal of the fluid.

The PREDATOR filter effectively neutralizes the hydrogen sulfide and eliminates the bacteria.

PREDATOR bacteria filter cartridges are manufactured using a stainless steel perforated tube tightly wound with high purity copper-zinc strands. In an electrolytic solution (water) the dissimilar metals of the copper-zinc alloy produce an electrochemical reaction. This cell produces an electric field that effectively kills microorganisms. During this reaction oxidation-reduction transfers electrons from one molecule to another. The electron transfer to the hydrogen sulfide reduces it to cupric sulfide. The insoluble cupric sulfide attaches to the strands of the filter element and can be easily removed with a clean water rinse.

The results are dramatic and immediate.

-The conversion of hydrogen sulfide to cupric sulfide ELIMINATES the rotten egg odor. -The electrolytic cell kills bacteria and eliminates further hydrogen sulfide production -Fluid life is increased and disposal costs are reduced.

- The use of biocides is greatly reduced or eliminated -Process quality is improved and/or tool life is increased -Most potential health hazards are eliminated -The need to control biological activity through the injection of chlorine is eliminated.

In addition, PREDATOR’S copper-zinc alloy provides a cost effective way to augment treatment for the reduction and removal of heavy metals. Water soluble cations, (+) ions, are removed by the galvanic action between the copper and zinc, eliminating or reducing most dissolved heavy metals.
